Our client is a leading organization looking to hire qualified Specifications Writer for their Montreal office. Reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance, this position plays a critical role in the planning and successful execution of our projects by ensuring seamless communication between designers, contractors, and clients. As a Project Estimator , you will be at the heart of technical communication and quotes, ensuring that our projects run in harmony with our intentions. Description of responsibilities and duties Here is a breakdown of your responsibilities according to the phases of the project: Detailed Design : As a specifier, you will play a crucial role during the detailed design phase and the final project. You will work closely with the project teams. You will create complete quotes to accompany the drawings and technical specifications of the documents. Translate technical specifications into quantifiable and detailed elements for construction. Create detailed specification documents outlining the materials, equipment, and work required. Collaborate with the design team to ensure that specification documents accurately reflect project intentions. Ensure consistency between project plans and specifications and specification documents. Call for Tenders / Submission: During the tendering phase, you will be responsible for preparing complete and clear tender documents. You will play a critical role in ensuring that potential contractors understand the project requirements and are able to provide accurate bids. Compile specification documents and plans into a complete package for the RFP. Ensure that tender documents are clear, complete, and consistent for contractors. Collaborate with the project team to answer questions from contractors regarding tender documents. Participate in the evaluation of bids and the selection of contractors based on quotation documents. Construction : During the construction phase, your quoting expertise will be a valuable resource to ensure the successful implementation of the project. You will be available to provide clarifications on quotation documents and to resolve any issues that may arise. Provide clarifications and explanations to contractors with respect to specification documents. Collaborate with the project team to make changes to specification documents as needed. Ensure construction costs remain aligned with project specifications by communicating with contractors. Contribute to effective communication between designers, contractors, and clients throughout construction. Candidate Profile The profile we are looking for: Degree in architecture, engineering or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in writing specifications in the field of architecture or construction. Previous experience writing specifications for architectural projects of various scales and typologies. Knowledge of local building codes and standards. Bilingualism in French and English Mastery of specification writing standards and practices in the architectural industry. Excellent understanding of technical aspects and building materials. Knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Revit and Autocad is an asset Ability to translate technical concepts into detailed specification documents. Ability to work accurately and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Analytical mind and keen eye for detail. Ability to collaborate effectively with project team members, contractors, and clients. Autonomy and initiative to carry out quotation writing tasks.
