OverviewThe Built Environment Solutions (BES) Intern will collaborate with and be mentored by Project Managers and Consultants from various Rimkus disciplines. The selected intern will work with team members assisting our practice groups on a variety of projects related to the fields of architecture, building sciences, and engineering.Essential Job Functions Performs field work as directed by supervisor.Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.Collect and prepare data for evaluation.Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.Light AutoCAD support and specification writing.Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.Assist with project coordination and project administration.Work setting in both the office and field environment.Other assigned duties and tasks, as required. Required Experience, Education and Certifications Must be working towards completion of a degree or diploma in an engineering or engineering technology program with a focus on Architectural, Building Science, Mechanical or Civil Engineering. Prior internship or related experience preferred.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required. Required Skills and Abilities Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in accuracy of calculations and completeness of data collection and notation.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel.Ability to work individually and in a team setting.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to routinely work at heights (applicable safety training provided).Self-motivating and ability to multi-task. Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel RequirementsPhysical Demands – Work is performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e. industrial, construction and/or residential sites). The employee is frequently required to stand, walk on sloped and flat roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, climb inside attics, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to client sites or job sites. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary. The employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports. Overtime – This position is classified as non-exempt. There will be some occasions where overtime (or working after normal business hours) will be required to meet the demands of the position. Travel – This position requires up to 50% local area travel.
