Break through at Brock.Post End Date:July 26, 2024HLSC 2P21 THE HEALTH OF CANADIAN SOCIETY CompensationEffective September 1, 2024 - $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)Effective September 1, 2024 - $14, per full course (390 hours nominally)Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.Duties Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).Qualifications A PhD in Health Sciences, Sociology, Psychology, or related field.After the deadline, if no qualified PhD applications have been received, those at ABD or those with a master’s degree combined with relevant experience will be considered.A sound knowledge of the Canadian Health Care system is required.Applicants must also have a robust understanding of the social and structural determinants of health. A component of the course involves Indigenous health issues. Applicants must demonstrate that they will be able to lead this component of the course in culturally sensitive and respectful ways and (if they do not self-identify as Indigenous themselves) be able to partner with Indigenous Elders or Knowledge Keepers for this course content.Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience with large class size at the undergraduate university level.Experience with online delivery tools (MS Teams, Brightspace, Lifesize, etc.) is an asset.NOTE: This posting is for Section 2 (Monday 1200-1500).
