We are seeking a dynamic Red Seal ticketed Maintenance Supervisor for a manufacturing company, who leads the way in their industry, but has a close-knit team keeping it running. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of management and technical skills, with a passion for improving processes and a commitment to excellence. This role involves leading a unionized team, managing maintenance activities, and actively participating in the day-to-day operations of manufacturing lines. The ideal candidate will possess a Red Seal Millwright, or Red Seal Industrial Electrician ticket or a Fourth Class Power Engineering, and will have a strong background in mechanical maintenance, preferably within a meat processing plant environment. The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee one shift (either day shift or night shift) of maintenance staff, providing leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to ensure the efficient operation of production lines while adhering to safety and quality standards. Advantages What's in it for you: -Salary Range: $68K to $95K (negotiable based on experience) -Shift: Day shift (7:00 am - 3:30 pm) or night shift (9:00 pm - 5:00 am). Monday to Friday -3 weeks of vacation plus 2 personal days -Medical, dental, and health coverage starting from day one -RRSP matching of 4% after one year -Possible annual bonus of 6.5% based on performance - Company product discounts Responsibilities What you'll be doing: * Direct maintenance activities at the plant to minimize production disruptions and maintain maintenance expenditure within established cost parameters. * Determine maintenance priorities in coordination with the Plant Manager and monitor maintenance assignments to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with specifications. Collaborate with other plant departments to ensure the proper functioning of all systems. * Provide leadership to hourly maintenance personnel, including coaching, cross-training, performance assessment, safety enforcement, and grievance procedures. Ensure adherence to safety and productivity goals/standards. * Maintain optimal inventory levels to minimize downtime while reducing inventory costs. * Implement and oversee the Preventive Maintenance Program to prevent equipment breakdowns, including inspections, assigning maintenance tasks, and ensuring program application to all equipment. * Ensure a safe work environment for employees, customers, and visitors by monitoring working practices and enforcing safety procedures. * Source and supervise contractors for repairs and maintenance beyond the scope of the workforce. Oversee contractor work to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with specifications. Qualifications What you'll bring: Red Seal Millwright, or Red Seal Industrial Electrician ticket required, or a Fourth Class Power Engineering ticket (millwright or industrial electrician red seal candidate preferred) 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a manufacturing environment. As well as experience managing union staff is preferred. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle performance discussions and mentor team members effectively.
