As the Director/Manager of HR you will anchor the operational facets of our human resources function. This role is integral to optimizing our people processes, including comprehensive payroll management for our North American operations.  This includes streamlining human resources workflows to bolster efficiency and effectiveness, with a detailed eye on data integrity and compliance adherence. You will be pivotal in nurturing a compliant, secure, and forward-thinking HR environment, upholding the highest standards of legal and ethical practices. Responsibilities:Payroll and Compensation Management - Spearhead the payroll execution for the workforce across the US and Canada, ensuring adherence to all relevant legal and fiscal standards. Oversee comprehensive payroll functions.Comprehensive Benefits Oversight - Administer employee benefits. Manage the entire lifecycle of benefits from selection and onboarding to sustained engagement and adjustments.Strategic Onboarding and Cultural Integration - Engineer an evolved onboarding strategy that not only introduces new hires to operational logistics but also ingratiates them with the organizational values.Regulatory Adherence and Policy Management - Maintain an understanding of HR legal standards to mitigate risk and ensure compliance. Regularly update and enforce HR policies and practices across the company.Operational Integrity and Audit Oversight - Conduct thorough audits of HR activities including payroll and benefits, to guarantee precision and compliance. Proactively rectify issues. Data Stewardship and Analytical Support - Safeguard HR and payroll data integrity through stringent security protocols and comprehensive analytics, contributing to informed decision-making and strategic planning.Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CPP) is preferred.Work Experience: At least 7-10 years of progressive experience in HR operations, with a significant focus on payroll processing and systems. Experience must include hands-on payroll management for a small to mid-sized company, preferably with employees across multiple jurisdictions, including both the US and Canada.Technical Skills: Proficient in payroll software and HRIS systems, with a strong understanding of the regulatory environment affecting payroll, benefits, and HR operations. Knowledge of employment laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements in both the US and Canada.Leadership Skills: Proven experience as a strategic leader with the ability to manage and develop an HR team, ensuring operational efficiency and excellence.Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey policies, facilitate onboarding, and provide guidance across the organization.Compliance and Legal Knowledge: Solid understanding of HR policies, procedures, and legal standards, with experience in managing audits and ensuring compliance.Strategic Planning: Ability to collaborate with senior HR leadership to align HR operational strategies with business goals.Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address issues identified during audits and to improve HR processes.Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
