Quality Assurance Sampling Technician

General Accountability : As part of the Quality Assurance (QA) Department and reporting to the QA Manager, the Product QA Sampling Technician provides support to the QA & Regulatory Affairs Manager and the Company QA program as noted below.

Specific Responsibilities :

  • Inspecting the incoming products.
  • Conduct product sampling process on incoming products and goods in process performing the sampling and forwarding the samples to our internal and external labs for testing.
  • Entering product information on Retained Log and Product Testing Log
  • Coordinating sample request for external warehouses
  • Order, track and receive samples at QA office
  • Assist with the QA quarantine release process
  • Receiving & maintain the Certificates of Analysis on the Company website.
  • Order, track and receive samples at Pestell QA office
  • Ensure samples are compliantly labeled and contain necessary documentation (Safety Data Sheets, CofAs, Specifications, etc.) if required.
  • Store documents on file for orders and future internal reference
  • Organize and store samples by product division and ensure adequate segregation between different materials. For example, industrial samples, Salts, Feed Additive, Fertilizers and Bird Food.
  • Record all distribution transactions in Excel for tracking and information purposes.
  • Ship samples along with appropriate documentation to customers as requested by Sales, following transportation regulatory requirements as applicable. Record all details, including costs, in the Excel sample spreadsheets.
  • Notify sales representatives of samples and provide updates on their expected ship dates.
  • Monitor sample expiry dates as well as aged inventory.
  • Coordinate with warehouse with regards to the handling of obsolete samples.
  • Attend periodic training sessions as it relates to the proper handling and shipping of samples.
  • Order sample supplies (office and lab supplies too) as needed (boxes, tape, jars, etc.) and track costs.
  • Periodically provide information to Accounting as it relates to sample expenditures.
  • Support the marketing department as it relates to samples.
  • Provide information to Manager as requested (such as sample inventory, what was shipped of a specific product or what a customer has received).
  • Receive and ship out products for testing to internal and external labs.
  • Assist in shipping out training material to Sales Reps (sample kits for suppliers and satellite warehouse training)
  • Perform other duties as requested by QA & Regulatory Affairs Manager
  • Provide ongoing support to the QA & Regulatory Affairs Manager and other members of the QA department as required.

Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma or Post-Secondary diploma in Agriculture (preferred)

  • Minimum 2-years’ experience in a quality assurance and/or quality inspection role, preferably in a feed/food manufacturing facility

  • Working knowledge of the HACCP, SQF, Feed Safety & quality program

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Excellent communication skills Working Conditions :

Salary : $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year

Experience :

  • QA in a feed or food manufacturing facility: 2 years (preferred)
  • HACCP and SQF: 1 year (preferred)
