DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESProcesses applications for admission to TRU programs in accordance with Senate approved policies and established internal procedures.  This includes assessing a student's qualifications, calculating admission averages, validating documents and making admission decisions. Responds to in-person, in writing or phone inquiries about TRU programs and services, admissions and registration.Supports and assists with the registration process for TRU students.  This includes self-service, email and in-person registration processes.Drafts and generates various forms of communication, including email and letter, under the direction of the Assistant Registrar, Admissions.  Maintains current knowledge of Senate approved policies and related procedures, admissions and registration procedures, TRU Calendar content, transfer credit policies, and applies them in day to day operations.Modifies and maintains information packages/brochures for admissions and registration.Enters data into an enterprise relational database.Assists in the generating of admission decision letters.Processes application fee payments.Compiles and distributes reports both internally and externally; assembles and maintains resource material including procedure manuals, handbooks.Maintains confidentiality of documents and student records.Assists in the training of other staff.Provides administrative support such as, but not limited to, producing notices, staff meeting and training notes.REPORTS TOAssociate Director, International AdmissionsQUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION:Associate Degree or two-year post-secondary diploma.EXPERIENCE:Four (4) years related experience in a post-secondary institution or related environment, including 1 year experience with enterprise relational database and conducting assessments within defined guidelinesSKILLS KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOBDemonstrated ability to perform electronic word processingTyping speed of 45 wpmDemonstrated ability to accurately enter data into an enterprise relational databaseAbility to work well under pressure Demonstrated ability to deal courteously and tactfully with othersExcellent oral and written communication skills Demonstrated initiativeAbility to use policy and departmental procedures to conduct daily duties and to identify and solve day-to-day issuesAbility to operate basic office equipment such as printers, scanners, fax machine, and photocopierAbility to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detailAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamAbility to develop and provide reports as requestedIntermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and ExcelWORKING CONDITIONSSitting at desk and computer for long periods of time as well as counter workGeneral office conditionsOccasional lifting and moving boxes and bins up to 10 kg.The salary for the above position is determined by the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4879, as it presently exists.
