Paralegal – Customer Dispute Resolution / Compliance (12-month contract)

Summary:In this role, you will primarily provide support to the business in respect of customer dispute resolution. You will also provide support to the Legal team in respect of compliance matters, including the Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) compliance program. You will be working with the Enercare Legal team, which is comprised of a team of five lawyers, one senior paralegal and a legal assistant.This is a 12-month contract position, possible 6-month extension. This position will report to the Senior Legal Counsel.Key Responsibilities include: Advising the business and operations teams on escalated customer matters, including by:Providing guidance and support on investigations into disputesAnalyzing evidence to determine the root cause of disputesPreparing or supporting preparation of settlement communicationsProviding guidance to business partners on corrective steps/improvements.Providing support to the Legal team in respect of compliance matters, including ABC complianceOtherwise providing support to the Legal team, as required, including with:Privacy lawConsumer protection Qualifications: Licensed Paralegal4+ years of relevant experience at a major consumer organization or law firmStrong communication skills with a practical solution-oriented approachProven analytical and problem-solving skills with experience simplifying and resolving complex problemsSuperior organizational and time management skills with experience handling multiple prioritiesKnowledge of or experience with consumer protection laws and regulatory compliance is an asset Enercare is an equal opportunity employer.
