Controls Engineer & Controls Technologist

JOB DESCRIPTION Description:One of our clients in the industrial, "heavy," sectors is currently looking to add multiple Control Systems Engineer or Technologist to their team that provides automation solutions to our industrial based customers. This position will involve control system design, programming, troubleshooting, maintenance and commissioning. They have recently gone through our workforce planning and have identified an urgent need as their project pipeline for has rapidly expanded. This role will be a mix of automation and control system design as well as assisting with on site support - the breakdown will consist of working in the office, on site at different bulk material handling systems, as well as from home (Hybrid model.) The candidates will ideally be familiar with heavy industrial automation of large machinery (bulk material handling) and be comfortable being on site. The ideal candidate will have conveyor belt control systems experience, specifically on the PLC, HMI and VFD programming end. Candidates coming from other sectors, still in the industrial side could also be a good fit. This role will need to interact with clients so strong communication is a must-have. They will have to re-write large portions of PLC programming when issues arise and be comfortable troubleshooting the issues. Candidates that have not gained experience with programming and haven't created programming from scratch will not be considered. As there are multiple openings, we are looking for a variety of candidates, ranging from intermediate to seasoned veterans. One of the big selling points for this client will be the ability for the candidate to be exposed to many different industries and projects, from mining, pulp and paper, wastewater, airport systems, marine industry, transportation sector, and more. MUST HAVES:Electrical, Systems, Controls, Mechatronics Engineering or Technologist Designation (E.I.T or P.Eng are an asset.)Direct industrial, mining, forestry, sawmill or process plant experience.PLC programming experience with Allen Bradley PLC'sExperience working and developing HMI's (Wonderware, FactoryTalk, Ignition, etc.)VFD experience (programming, troubleshooting, etc.)Experience on-site direct with clients commissioning, troubleshooting and conducting maintenance.NICE TO HAVE:P.Eng designationEIT DesignationProject Management experienceTechnologists will work for this role as long as they have strong programming skills.
