About Our Opportunity : Under the supervision of the Senior Property Mapper, you maintain, and upgrade property mapping using information from the Registry (title documents and plans of survey or subdivision).

Primary Accountabilities : Key accountabilities include :

  • Maintaining and revising property boundaries (as described in parcel descriptions and survey plans) and the Land Information Network (LIN-NS) database by interpreting and verifying property ownership information (from documents affecting title/ownership).
  • Maintaining Land Registration documents pertaining to subdivision/consolidation plans and instruments of subdivision, creating the required relations between new and existing PIDs.
  • Reviewing parcel descriptions (PDCA), verifying mapping graphics, and creating new parcels as required through interpretation of registered documents/plans (RPA) for Land Registration migration.
  • Providing support to Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC) and Municipal Units by resolving linkages between the LIN-NS and IASWorld (PVSC) databases and maintaining the currency of land ownership, property location and lot size changes of real property accounts in the Provincial Property Assessment Roll and in Municipal databases.
  • Working collaboratively with other government agencies and the public, you will help to improve the quality of the NSPRD and IASWorld databases through daily processes and special projects as required.

Qualifications and Experience : To be considered for this position, you have completed a Technical program in a related field (approved courses in drafting or graphics, survey principles, or property law) or an acceptable equivalent. A solid working knowledge of mapping techniques (as it applies to property mapping) is essential. A working knowledge of Provincial Statutes (Land Registration Act, Registry Act, Municipal Government Act) relating to real property is also required. Completion of courses in computer/windows operating systems, computer software used in the digital mapping updating process is also important. In addition, you possess excellent communications skills, the ability to interact with people in a professional manner with a customer-focused approach and you are a collaborative team player. You also have excellent communication skills, attention to detail with superior analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Direct knowledge of the LIN-NS and IASWorld databases, additional education/experience in software, and the handling and maintaining of files contained in a map library will be considered definite assets. A working knowledge of Departmental programs and related legislation, and/or experience working in a legal setting (with title searching) as well as bilingualism in French and English would be considered assets.

Pay Grade : TE 17 - TE 23

Salary Range : $1,792.63 - $2,683.02 Bi-Weekly
