JOB POSTINGMiddlesex Hospital AlliancePosting # 075 – 2024 QUALITY, RISK, PATIENT SAFETY AND PATIENT EXPERIENCE SPECIALIST Regular Full-Time PositionLocation: Multi-Site – Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, Four Counties Health Services and Off-site Locations Position Overview:Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) is seeking a full-time Quality, Risk and Patient Safety & Experience Specialist reporting directly to the President & CEO. The successful candidate will support and drive a strong quality, risk, safety and patient experience agenda, in order to reach strategic directions and provide the highest quality care possible in accordance with the Middlesex Hospital Alliance’s Mission, Vision and Values. Job Duties and Responsibilities:• Collaborate with senior leadership, managers, physicians, staff, patients and families to assist, monitor and maintain a culture of quality, patient safety and engagement/experience across the organization• Provide leadership in the management of all risk across the facilities by leading the planning, education, coordination and evaluation of organizational-wide risk management• Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of corporate policies, procedures and standards in quality improvement, risk management and patient experience.• Proactively identify, mitigate, manage and coordinate the quality improvement, risk management and patient experience/engagement activities across the corporation.• Participate in risk assessment for new programs, service or models of care• Analyze data, processes, workflows, and utilize quality improvement tools to identity opportunities for improvement working closing with Quality Improvement Decision Support Specialist• Collaborate with other services which manage various aspects of safety (e.g. Emergency Preparedness, Occupational Health & Safety, Infection Control, Security Services)• Participates as chair and/or member of organizational committees such as Quality Committee of the Board, Ethics, Patient/Family Advisory Council, Clinical Leadership, etc.• Oversee the management of the occurrence reporting system (RL6) including the analysis and interpretation of data to measure the effectiveness of risk, quality and patient safety and experience initiatives and programs and makes recommendations for improvement.• Supports patient/community engagement initiatives as required.• Accountable for the design, coordination, and implementation of the Accreditation Canada Qmentum Global Program, serve as an expert resource on Accreditation to Board, Leadership and Management Team, support a shared understanding of Accreditation as part of a continuous quality improvement process, and evaluate organizational compliance with Accreditation standards.• Acts as the organizational lead for Accreditation, supporting Management, Leadership and Board and Front-line staff and Physicians• Coordinates, communicates and engages within the organization to ensure readiness to support accreditation• Serves as expert resource on Accreditation standards and process. Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in health related field (Master’s preferred)• Current registration with a regulated Health Professional college in Ontario• Minimum 3-5 years in related hospital experience• Additional training/education in Quality and Risk Management (eg. LEAN, Six Sigma, Experience Based Design ) preferred• Additional training in Patient Safety (Patient Safety Education Program) preferred• Experience working with Indigenous communities and Indigenous cultural safety training an asset• Working knowledge of current legislation governing health care (eg. Public Hospitals Act, Mental Health Act, Quality of Care Information Protection Act (QCIPA), PIPEDA etc) and the Accreditation Canada Qmentum Program• Superior ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing• Ability to deliver presentations and facilitate groups in consensus building, problem solving, brainstorming, create and evaluate new solutions• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to influence and persuade, with staff and leaders at all levels of the organization• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team environment as well as independently• Ability to effectively prioritize workload to meet various deadlines• Demonstrated excellent attendance record• Advanced skill in Microsoft Office Suite Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)• Project Management training or experience, an asset• Must provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella and varicella (chicken pox)• Must provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing within the previous 12 months and documented proof of 2 Covid 19 vaccinations The MHA is a FRAGRANCE REDUCED environment
