Heavy Equipment Operator

United Aggregates Inc the operator of an aggregate quarry in East Uniacke, Nova Scotia is actively looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator reporting to the General Manager.,

  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
  • Fill out equipment logbooks.
  • Perform routine pre-operation inspection and maintenance on equipment.
  • Clean, lubricate and refuel equipment.
  • Excavate to remove overburden.
  • Operate loader to load tandem trucks.
  • Load crusher with shot rock.

Qualifications

  • Heavy Equipment Certification considered an asset but not mandatory.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures including but not limited to backing up procedures, use of spotters, signage, incident reporting, required personal protective equipment and lifting of heavy loads.
  • Previous construction experience considered an asset.
  • Must be reliable and punctual
  • Ability to efficiently communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that all tasks are being completed safely and in a timely manner
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks requiring the use of independent judgment and action

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate crusher operations with the team in an organized fashion
  • Promote and maintain awareness and compliance of health and safety in accordance with industry standards and legal requirements.
  • Demonstrate professional ethical standards within the workplace
