Title Circular Economy Project Coordinator
Location 300-569 Johnson St. Victoria, with the ability to work some hours remotely
Term Flexible start date in January 2023
Hours 37.5 hours per week
Compensation $43,900 - $46,800 per year depending on experience and expertise
Standard 4% paid holiday (2 weeks per year)
Employee Health Benefits Package and 5 paid wellness days per annum after 3-month probation period
$500 per annum allocated to professional development

SYNERGY FOUNDATION
The Synergy Foundation is a Victoria based non-profit that was created in 2013. Since its inception, Synergy Foundation has focused on innovative projects and programs that have pushed the envelope, supported hundreds of businesses, and turned great ideas into action.
Our three focus areas are green business, food security, and circular economy. This is represented in our core projects, the Vancouver Island Green Business Collective, FED, and
Project Zero, and our annual event, the Ecostar Awards.
CIRCULAR ECONOMY PROJECT COORDINATOR
This position supports the mission of Synergy Foundation and will primarily be focused on the
Project Zero program and other related circular economy consulting work. This role has an emphasis on working and communicating directly with businesses and entrepreneurs in our
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Zero (70%)
- Assist in the development and execution of the BC Circular Economy Incubator Program
- Lead communications and administrative duties with program participants
- Assist in designing and delivering sessions
- Review business plans and provide coaching to businesses
- Support business coach relationships
- Support the planning and development of the pitch event
- Assist in the execution of the Circular Accelerator Program
- Conduct on-site circularity assessments and write opportunity reports
- Research circular solutions and build the circular database
- Support the development of the business toolkit and final report
- Support development and facilitation of workshop series
- Marketing and communications
- Develop written and visual content for the newsletter and social media
- Maintain and develop the website
- Prepare additional marketing assets as needed, including press releases and informational 1-pager
- Other
- Assist in the development and facilitation of circular economy workshops and webinars
- Conduct circular economy and clean teach research and analysis
Other Programs and Events (30%)
- Support with research and report writing for special projects
- Provide support with event planning and execution as needed
- Create written and visual content for events
- *Team meetings, communications, and task management
- *Support Synergy Foundations objectives as other tasks arise
REQUIREMENTS
- Located in Greater Victoria, BC
- Class 5 driver’s license or Class 7 with two years driving experience
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- *Strong verbal and written communication
- *Business and/or sustainability educational background is an asset
- *Experience working with small businesses or building connections with business professionals is an asset
- *Well organized and attention to detail
- *Self-motivator and good with time management
- *Willingness to learn
- *Understanding of and interest in business sustainability and circular economy

Extended Health & Dental - Health and dental benefits (including life insurance) are available to staff after completing three months of employment. Additional information upon request.
Unlimited Vacation - Additional time off requests (un-paid) is unlimited. To respect project work timelines, discuss extended vacation with the Director of Program Operations at least 2-3 months in advance. This will allow us to plan for reduced capacity within the team during this time.
Paid Volunteering - Volunteering for a cause that is outside of our core work, but still mission-aligned and supporting our network of businesses is encouraged. Therefore, every calendar year full-time employees are permitted to spend a two hours every quarter volunteering for a cause that is focused on sustainability or environmental conservation
Wellness Days - Each full-time staff is entitled to five paid wellness/sick days per year after completing three months of employment. These may be used at the team member’s personal discretion and do not roll over to the next year. These are not meant to be used as additional holidays. Wellness days are more of an insurance policy. These can be used to avoid burnout or to book healthcare appointments. The spirit of this policy is to have a ‘take care of yourself day.’
