Summary Reporting to the Resident Care Manager, under the supervision of the Nurse, the Resident Care Aide (RCA) performs routine functions involved in the provision of daily care to residents of the long term Care Centre.Shift: 6:00am-2:00pm, 2:00pm-10:00pm, 10:00pm-6:00amKey ResponsibilitiesProvides personal care to residents such as assistance with bathing, toileting, care of skin, hair, nails and mouths, dressing and other activities of daily living.Assists residents to and from the dining room in accordance with scheduled meal times. Ensures residents receive adequate nutrition according to individual care plans by feeding, distributing meal trays and supplements, noting changes in appetites and food preferences and reporting to the nurses.Assists with social and activity programs, as needed, including daily exercise, accompanying residents on excursions. Performs light housekeeping duties to ensure residents’ common areas, rooms , supply and storage areas are kept clean and uncluttered..Understands and responds to emergency procedures, with knowledge of evacuation techniques.Answers resident’s calls promptly and responds to requests for assistance from residents.Uses good body mechanics and proper lifting techniques.
