The opportunity EY's Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) practice is a consulting unit that provides risk management support to banks, insurers and asset managers. Our team includes individuals who have industry, client and product knowledge as well as quantitative, regulatory, project management and technology professionals. We are seeking several ESG/Climate Risk Modelling Senior Manager with minimum 7-years experience in ESG Frameworks / Climate Risk Modelling, Credit Risk Modelling experience acquired in the banking industry or in consulting services to join our team. They will be based in our Montreal (must be able to work in French and English) or Toronto office. Your key responsibilities As an ESG/Climate Risk Modelling Senior Manager you will provide subject matter expertise on climate risk in the context of risk modelling and measurement, stress testing, risk management, strategy, and regulatory expectations. Developing materials, tools and methodologies to support our climate risk thought leadership for use in client engagements, conferences and meetings. Work across and be the day-to-day lead on multiple engagements, delivering high quality climate risk support to our banking clients, including managing the delivery team. Assist our clients in comprehending, managing, and acting on the possibilities and risks connected with a low-carbon, resilient economy. Policy and strategy advice, addressing changing legislation and consumer preferences, supply chain security, climate risk, sustainable financing, and responsible investing. Participate in the EY educational program to continually enhance abilities, as well as to create and maintain fruitful client relationships. Maintain a detailed knowledge of climate risk regulations and an awareness of broader banking regulations, market trends, competitor activities and product/services. Ability to travel on short notice to serve Canadian clients (travel is expected to be less than 20%). Skills and attributes for success Strong communication, presentation and technical writing skills to describe ideas, concepts and issues that involve interpretation, analysis and assessment of complex conceptual topics To qualify for the role you must have Strong academic background: Master's or PhD degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Financial Engineering or a similar quantitative discipline is required. Certificate in ESG, Climate risk, SCR, FRM, CFA, designation would be an asset. Experience in ESG frameworks or Climate Risk frameworks in the financial institutions industry or in consulting services. Excellent analytical skills and comfortable working large datasets; able to perform de-trending and key data trigger point analysis. Knowledge of climate-related physical and transition risks and the transmission channels through which these can manifest as a risk for financial institutions. Experience in model evaluation and development; ideally applied to business cases in the insurance, reinsurance or banking sectors involving PD and LGD modelling. We expect good familiarity with models from different vendors and data providers. Ability to understand and execute programming code such as R, Python, SAS A good understanding of IPCC assessments of Representative Concentration Pathways (RPCs). Experience in financial analysis or economic analysis in the context of climate change. Experience in climate scenario analysis and/or climate risk assessment. Highly effective in narrating the analytical output to stakeholders, with an ability to convey information clearly, accurately and succinctly (Must be able to work in French and in English), including the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and clients. Experience in capital management (ICAAP, stress testing, economic capital, etc.) (an asset). Understanding of model risk management regulations (an asset). Knowledge of SQL with experience operating in big data environments. Proficient with coding in various languages; Python/Spark experience a plus. Ideally, you'll also have Self starting attitude, Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and problem-solving abilities Ability to lead and work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
