Our expectations The Dispatcher maximizes vehicle and delivery efficiency while effectively balancing the delivery requirements of the customer and meeting the standards of the Highway Safety Code.  Your role Receive delivery requests, schedule them as per company policy and unique customer requirements while maximizing delivery efficiency Review shipping memos for obvious errors such as incorrect street names, duplicate orders, inflated stock quantities, and non-core SKUs Route deliveries, partnering loads to maximize vehicle capacity and minimize delivery time and distance Ensure all next-day deliveries are routed prior to the end of the shift Assign vehicles and drivers to routes Ensure specialty products are routed on the appropriate truck Advise the Supervisor of staff and vehicle requirements Review the computer summary to ensure all orders have been routed Notify the appropriate department of problems and initiate corrective action Assist the Dispatch office when required with answering telephone inquiries, signing in/out drivers, resolving problems Support daily operations (email, phone) Perform other job-related duties as required The qualifications we are looking for Ability to effectively schedule, route, and coordinate deliveries, taking into account delivery boundaries, traffic restrictions, travel time, vehicle load restrictions, and load specifications Knowledge of RONA policies and procedures with respect to order entry and delivery Knowledge of major streets within a designated area Knowledge of building materials and related products, current inventory levels and product alternatives Ability to prioritize and respond to situations in a timely and appropriate fashion Leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, delegate, and communicate effectively Detail-oriented RONA is committed to encouraging diversity and inclusion.
