Detailed Overview Under general supervision, performs techniques relating to Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, stress testing, holter and Ambulatory Blood Pressure (ABP) monitoring. Performs related procedures including scanning, analyzing and selecting portions of test strips; records, summarizes and/or interprets data for use by physician. As required, under the direction of a physician and under supervision, may assist with Pacemaker interrogation, monitoring and documentation. Responsibilities Performs Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, stress testing, holter and/or event monitor testing and Ambulatory Blood Pressure (ABP) testing. Explains procedures and answers patient questions in preparation for testing. Scans and analyzes ECG, stress and holter monitor test strips; selects and assesses portions of test strips and summarizes for interpretation by medical staff. Under supervision, may assist with Pacemaker interrogation, monitoring and documentation. Enters patient test information as per department protocols, into Meditech to provide Electronic Health Records database for client/patient files. Maintains appropriate files and reports according to established department procedures/policies. Demonstrates ECG testing procedures and operation of related equipment to students and new staff. Provides orientation and training to ECG staff and other hospital staff as directed. Maintains equipment by cleaning, lubricating and replacing items as required; completes requisitions for repair using established procedures. Distributes patient reports to appropriate wards and/or departments. Provides input and assists with the development, implementation and update of department policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Education and Experience Completion of a recognized Cardiology Technology Program at the Diploma level plus two years recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) certified. Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal effectively with others.
