EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Completion of a two-year diploma course in computer sciences or related discipline at a technical institute or community college, plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:Considerable knowledge of the practices and procedures used in the installation, configuration and operation of computer equipment and software applications as related to the work performed.Sound knowledge of the functions of departments served and their requirements as applied to the work performed.Sound knowledge of communications and local area networks.Sound knowledge of problem definition and solution techniques applicable to work performed.Ability to examine users' current applications, practices, and needs, and to identify problems and recommend or implement solutions or improvements.Ability to investigate, document, assess and resolve software and hardware problems and to liaise with vendor representatives and superiors on the more complex problems.Ability to evaluate computer software and hardware and make recommendations regarding the acquisition and use of products.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal contacts and to provide advice,     information, assistance, and specific applications training to same.Skill in the operation of equipment used in the work.LICENSES & CERTIFICATES:Class 5 Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia.HOURS OF WORK:As per article 13:01 c of the Collective Agreement:Seven (7) consecutive hours between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The standard work week consists of five (5) consecutive working days from Monday to Friday.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment.  (Note – not required as part of the application process; however, will be required upon consideration for employment).PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Preference will be given to candidates that have the ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance.
