About the OpportunityThe Valley Regional Hospital is seeking a full-time adult psychiatrist to join the new day hospital on a 0.5 full time equivalency (FTE) basis as well as work 0.5 FTE in the community adult outpatient services. The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative community adult outpatient team as well as provide psychiatric care along with social worker, occupational therapist, recreation therapy and nurses in the Valley Day Hospital. The psychiatry service supports rural satellite clinics for mental health and addictions, seniors mental health, community outreach teams, clozapine, and depot clinics, consult services for adults with neurodevelopmental disorders, consultation with medical units and emergency departments and full Child and Adolescent Clinical Services. This is a cohesive team with members from diverse backgrounds dedicated to providing quality care. Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) opened its doors to patients in . The hospital serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties, and provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia. Located in Kentville, VRH is a inpatient bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80, residents. The facility completes approximately 5, cases/year with deliveries/year. There is a full surgical program with after-hours surgical coverage for emergency and non-elective procedures. Services: surgical services internal medicine services (including cardiology and respirology) intensive care emergency medicine obstetrics pediatrics radiology/diagnostic imaging psychiatry/mental health and addiction services Responsibilities provide care to patients over the age of 19 who need psychiatric care but don't need to stay overnight in an acute care unit participate in program development offer consultations to other physicians and rural clinics contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities as assigned Expected Hours Full Time Qualifications all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the (CPSNS) all specialists must be eligible for certification with the (RCPSC) membership with the (CMPA)
