When a position  becomes available you may be contacted by our Talent Acquisition team.  Company : Method Studios  Position : Unreal Environment Artist (General Submission)  Location : Vancouver, BC  *Pay Range : $29.00 - $43.00 CAD hourly     POSITION SUMMARY:  As an Environment Artist with Method’s Real-Time division, you will be responsible for crafting immersive and visually stunning virtual environments. Your primary responsibility will be to create highly efficient and photorealistic CG environments using Unreal Engine. The position requires a high degree of technical skill and artistic judgment. You’ll be talented at balancing artistic needs with the production requirements and technical limitations of the software and hardware employed. This is a cross-discipline role, and requires exceptional abilities in modeling, matte/texture painting lighting and rendering.   MAIN DUTIES:  The Environment Artist will understand all aspects of the environment workflow and create efficient Unreal environment scenes and workflows. They will ensure that assigned shots fit in the continuity of a sequence and fulfill the vision of the Creative Director, as well as ensure the quality of final shots. Additional duties include: Troubleshoot technical production issues. Oversee and help optimize shots for rendering. Communicate creative and technical issues effectively. Have an ability to be adaptable when changes in priorities and schedules arise. Perform other miscellaneous duties as required from time-to-time by the Artistic Director.   WHAT YOU BRING:  The ideal candidate will bring prior experience in a similar Environment role. They will be experienced with Unreal and/or another real-time engine, as well as with modeling, and texturing in Unreal Engine or other DCC's (Maya, Blender, Zbrush). Additional desired skills include: Excellent artistic skills, with a particular emphasis on real-world lighting/photography an asset. Good knowledge of Maya, Katana and/or possibly Houdini. Demonstrable ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas. Able to take directions and adaptable to change. Knowledge of Python and Blueprint Strong understanding of organization and optimization inside Unreal Engine Nice to Have: Knowledge of Nuke and Photoshop. Familiarity with Lidar processing and environment creation software such as Paint Effects, Vue, Speed Tree Knowledge of one or more of the following renderers, depending on show requirements: vray, mantra, renderman. Understanding of PBR materials and photogrammetry.
