Architectural Design Draftsperson

Our client is looking to hire an Architectural Design Draftsperson to produce detailed production drawings, architectural component data sheets, and material take-offs for architectural components for ships. The role includes working with the Lead Architectural Designer, suppliers, and the construction team. This is a long-term role for the right candidate with opportunity to learn new skills in a challenging but rewarding industry.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare FD and PD design packages.
  • Prepare colour Coordination Manual.
  • Contact with Vendors and stakeholders.
  • Solve outfitting/ architectural design problems.
  • Assist design management.
  • Assist in preparation of designs, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and production packages.
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving complex design problems.
  • Oversee and own the execution of the design development process and assist senior staff scope of design work breakdown packages.

Required Skills:

  • Diploma from recognized institution.
  • Design management and/or Architectural experience.
  • Computer experience (AutoCAD, Navisworks, Word, Excel, InDesign, Photoshop, Sketch up, etc.)
  • Strong design skills and ability to solve complex design problems.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable experience of working to deadlines and agreed performance indicators.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and through drawings/sketches.
  • Must be flexible in the role regarding work scope and hours.
  • Must be a Team player.
  • BC Resident with valid work permit for BC.
