Our client, a baked goods manufacturer located in Mt. Bridges, ON, is looking to add a Maintenance Technician to their team. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality of production by maintaining the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. They also perform preventive maintenance and repairs on the building and equipment in the facility. Maintenance Technician details: Monday-Friday, 6:30am- 3pm, onsite. Up to $31.00/hr based on qualifications. 2 weeks vacation* Benefits from day 1 -health care spending account Maintenance Technician (Millwright) Responsibilities Prevents machinery malfunctions by completing maintenance requirements and troubleshooting issues using manuals and specifications. Being proactive in sourcing parts and equipment in an expedient and budgetary way that needs or may need to be replaced due to wear and tear. Sets up packaging machinery promptly and inspects production sheets for necessary adjustments. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, using precision measuring and testing instruments. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices, using hand and power tools. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments as needed. To write a cohesive Preventative Maintenance plan for the bakery including all equipment and to follow through on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual execution. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straight edges. Follow appropriate ministry of labour safety standards. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitors compliance. Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment. Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Performs routine facilities maintenance as assigned by supervisor. Immediately reports any problem with food safety and quality to supervisors. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Ensures proper operation and maintenance of all equipment and building systems, including: -Line equipment. -Ovens -Flour, Sugar silos. -HVAC -Miscellaneous installations, upgrades and special projects as needed. -Forklift tow motors and hydraulic lifts. -Electrical and PLC program knowledge. -Assesses monthly walk-through results and completes designated jobs. -Repairs production equipment as needed. -Follow safety standards as required by MOL including lockout tag out on machines. Maintenance Technician (Millwright) Qualifications Mechanical engineering degree, or equivalent preferred. 2+ years of experience within food manufacturing required. 2-5 years of experience in equipment maintenance preferred, with a technical background. Experience with lock out tag out procedures. Ability to work in elevated areas and hot and cold conditions. Experience with PLC controls and computer operated equipment. Knowledge of Electrical, Plumbing, Pneumatics and Mechanical Systems with Electrical knowledge of 3-Phase and DC systems Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience. Ability to weld using stick welding and use a cutting torch for metal fabrication. Your own tools as well as a movable tool cart are required. Ability to lift 45+ pounds. Experience with a vertical form fill machine, horizontal flow wrapping a Kodiak boxing equipment is also preferred. Availability for fill-in work or other assignments within the company when needed.
