Position Title: Manager of Clinical Services - Provincial Renal Program Location: Provincial traveling within PEI, Canada Salary Range: $47.79 - $58.78 per hour (Level 21N) Bi-Weekly Hours: 75.0 hours Bi-weekly / Days 8-4, Monday to Friday and Weekends as required . Overview This is a clinical renal leadership position responsible for the leadership, administration, supervision and development of the Provincial Renal Programs/Services located at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Prince County Hospital, Souris and Western Hospitals to ensure optimal quality care. The Manager of Clinical Services is responsible for clinical nursing staff in hemodialysis including Clinical leads, RNs and LPNs and multidisciplinary team of staff in the provincial renal clinic who provide services to patients in a provincial program with multiple sites across PEI. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring services are aligned to meet clinical practice guidelines, standards, and client needs and liaises with other programs to maintain coordination of service delivery within the broader continuum of care. The Successful applicant will: Provide clinical Leadership, expert high-level clinical advice, support, and direction to the Provincial Renal Program Monitors coverage and deployment of staffing in the service; monitors trends; provided guidance to clinical leads and clinical educators; Liaises regularly with QEH Renal Programs, homecare, acute care, nursing homes, and primary care to maintain open communication on concerns and initiatives; Provides leadership in development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures; program goals and objectives, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation standards within the clinical setting; Identifies clinical program needs and improvement options, implements and evaluates plans to meet desired objectives, philosophy, mission, goals and strategic plan of Health PEI and the Provincial Renal Program; Responsible to ensure compliance with quality improvement, risk management, utilization, compliance with legislation, regulations, and clinical standards of practice for the Provincial Renal Program Plans and ensure effective and efficient methods of delivery of care, congruent with best clinical practices and current trends; Collaborates with the Provincial Renal Program Management Team on issues affecting clinical operations and participates in quality initiatives as require; Liaison with relevant advocacy groups i.e. Kidney Foundation; Ensures investigations and appropriate action are taken on incidents and complaints; Provides leadership on the principles of patient-centered care and quality/risk management. Plans, monitors and evaluates program-specific quality improvement activities; Provides leadership in the development of quality improvement for nursing by championing a climate for evidence-based nursing practice; Serves a knowledgeable leader who is visionary, inspires other and supports professional nursing practice; Participates in nursing research to revise standards of practice and patient care. Minimum Qualifications: Must have a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing; Extensive progressive and successful clinical experience, preference will be given to applicants with experience in the area of renal replacement therapies and chronic kidney disease; Extensive supervisory/ management experience; Experience in program planning, development and evaluation; Demonstrated clinical decision making, analytical, leadership, communication, problem solving and conflict resolution skills; Extensive knowledge of professional practice and evidence; Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel on a regular basis to hemodialysis sites and to other areas of the province for meetings as required; Must have current registration with the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of PEI. Other Qualifications: Master’s degree in nursing or related field preferred; Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset; Clinical experience in renal replacement therapies would be considered an asset; The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check prior to beginning employment.
