Job Description Your RoleThe Regional Controller – Southwest leads the Southwest Ontario region Casino’s financial and operations accounting teams and controls financial aspects of the Casinos including accounting, auditing, accounts payable, collections, and monthly financial reporting in the Southwest region. Maintains inventory records, may supervise and participate in physical inventory counts, and maintains up-to-date records of food and beverage costs and sales consumption. Completes and provides accurate monthly and year-end financial reporting packages (i.e. financial statements, management performance reports, overview analysis and other reports as required) to Corporate Accounting, OLG and other external entities within prescribed timelines.Institutes and maintains local accounting controls and processes to ensure adequate documentation of all business activities and evidence of proper authorizations.Institutes and maintains a system of internal checks that will either prevent or result in prompt discovery and correction of unauthorized or erroneous transactions.Maintains effective on-site document storage and systems to ensure confidentiality and orderly filing and retrieval of all documents that must be retained.Liaises with external auditors, manages preparation of audit documentation and other audit information gathering, verification, reconciliation, and reporting requirements.Advises senior management and department managers on financial aspects of the operation and performs related required administration functions.Developing, recommending and assisting in implementation of accounting solutions for new products and marketing programs.Oversees the performance of direct reports including: training, appraising performance, providing positive and corrective feedback, coaching, and administering discipline. Provides technical and procedural supervision of other roles as required. Provides key financial analysis of strategic initiatives and/or capex projects.Identifies potential efficiencies and cost savings throughout the operation.Completes ad hoc special projects and other duties assigned by Corporate Accounting and senior management, and/or department managers.Some travel is required in order to oversee several sites.
