The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has an opening for a permanent part-time Box Office Attendant in the Arts & Culture division. This position will work 20 hours per week. Job description The Box Office Attendant serves customers in a professional and courteous manner with ticket sales and inquiries related to the Chatham Capitol Theatre, the Chatham Kiwanis Theatre, and CK Tickets. Essential responsibilities Demonstrate Chatham-Kent’s core values and competencies Organize tickets and provide ticket information for accessibility requirements for the evening and weekend Box Office and House Manager staff Reconcile all sales (daytime and evening if any) the next business day Prepare and send outgoing mail, courier parcels and faxes as related to box office operations Process and verify daily online sales reports and online ticket purchases for financial reports, filing, mailing and distribution Prepare completed edits and bank deposit forms Summarize cash, cheque and POS machine transactions from cash register and sales database for daily reports, bank deposits and edits Prepare refund requests as necessary Provide customer service (in person and on the telephone) with regard to ticket sales and clients using ticketing services Forward incoming telephone and voice-mail messages as required and follow-up incomplete credit card transactions Perform other duties as assigned Essential qualifications Secondary school diploma or equivalent education (e.g. GED certificate), with six (6) months to two (2) years of related experience Related box office or theatre experience preferred Experience handling cash in a business environment Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) (or similar software program) Other qualifications Experience working in a customer service environment would be an asset Working knowledge of theatre software (i.e., TixHub or other similar program), enterprise financial management software (i.e., JD Edwards or other similar program), and online payment software (i.e., Beanstream or other similar program) would be an asset Work environment/hours of work This position works weekdays hours, as well as occasional evenings and weekends This position works indoors COVID-19 Vaccination The Municipality of Chatham-Kent no longer requires a COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment. Although it is not mandatory to be vaccinated, it is highly encouraged. Background check requirements Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check prior to commencement of employment. A background check may include the following: Police Criminal Record Check, education/certification verification, and employment reference check. Essential physical and/or safety requirements Bending: frequent stooping, twisting (ticket printer is below the box office attendants which requires bending and twisting) Walking: frequent walking on level surface (work indoors on a carpeted floor) Sitting: constant sitting in a chair (Box Office Attendants sit at their computer throughout the day to sell tickets, answer phones, and direct the public to the area that they want to go in) Reaching: frequently reaching below shoulder, forward (reach below shoulders whenever tickets are printed; required to stretch and reach for customers to give their tickets to them) Hands: frequent fine finger dexterity (movement); constant mousing (using fingers to sell tickets on the computer, pick up printed tickets, counting cash) Benefits This permanent part-time position has an hourly wage of $17.00 to $17.54 will receive vacation and statutory benefits in accordance with Employment Standards Act. ________
