Director of Innovation

Introduction We are searching for a Director of Innovation who will play a pivotal role within our Client's organization, driving collaborative efforts across departments and with customers to achieve business objectives. This role demands an experienced food scientist with a focus on manufacturing Natural Health gummies and a track record in developing formulations and supporting scale-up processes. Responsibilities Collaborate with customers to develop formulas, from prototypes to final production, meeting their specific needs. Work closely with Operations to ensure seamless plant trials and provide recommendations for further action based on trial results. Validate manufacturing processes for new products and equipment. Oversee the creation and maintenance of process and product specifications. Stay abreast of gummy and natural health product trends, exploring new and functional ingredients. Partner with procurement to source ingredients that offer functional benefits to consumers while meeting supplier quality standards. Maintain up-to-date ingredient and product information in the company database, including customer-specific specifications. Lead the Innovation team through coaching, counseling, and performance management, while also overseeing day-to-day operations. Requirements Extensive experience as a Food Scientist in gummy manufacturing, with expertise in product development and scale-up. Post-secondary degree in Food Science or Nutrition. Knowledge of raw material selection, sourcing, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with nutraceutical and botanical materials and their uses. Experience evaluating ingredient vendors for quality compliance. Knowledge of regulatory requirements for food supplements/nutraceutical products. Proficiency in analytical testing methods for Natural health products and ingredients. Ability to create Finished Product Documentation compliant with regulatory standards. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Highly organized with analytical capabilities and adept at simplifying complex data. Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
