  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a health related field.

  • Regulated health professional with current membership in good standing with respective college.

  • Current BCLS,

  • ACLS preferred

  • Minimum of two years nursing experience in a leadership role in an acute care hospital setting. Must have at least one year experience in:

  • Bed management patient flow experience

  • Leadership and/or supervision of staff

  • Satisfactory attendance

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)

  • Provides leadership to all staff in a supportive, facilitative and empowering manner.
  • Facilitates staff collaboration across all programs, promoting team building and promotion of good morale within the teams to ensure safety, quality and efficiency in patient care.
  • Provides leadership, guidance and just in time training to various members of the Hospital team (physicians, nursing staff, office managers, etc) about appropriate admission, transfer, discharge processes and service capability on various units.
  • Must be able to make decisions expeditiously, facilitate the implementation, and ongoing evaluation of these decisions, and be accountable for the outcomes.
  • Works collaboratively with leadership, and Staffing Resource Office (SRO) in regarding scheduling issues associated with patient care that result in high quality, cost effective care.
  • Demonstrates high visible presence across all nursing units throughout shift
  • Will take call as part of their shift to provide off-site leadership
  • In collaboration with the accepting physician and/or Most Responsible Physician support of facility to facility transfers, medical appropriateness for admission, maintains communication with all parties including Admitting/Bed Allocation Department
  • Supports staff on shift to coordinate emergency patient transfers (i.e. Critical, air ambulance transfers etc.)
  • Manages protocols for repatriation/transfer of Chatham-Kent residents to CKHA, and provides support to staff in coordinating repatriations/transfers of patients from CKHA.
  • Based on knowledge of levels of care, the Off Shift Supervisor identifies issues related to patient admissions or transfers that have a potential to have care delivered an alternate manner or placement setting
