May , NORTH WELLINGTON HEALTH CARE POSTING - GENERAL MAINTENANCE(CASUAL)  The Maintenance department is currently seeking a cross site casual General Maintenance staff member to perform general maintenance services within Palmerston and District Hospital and the Louise Marshall Hospital. The home site for this position will be Palmerston and District Hospital.  This position is unionized with OPSEU . RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform daily preventative and emergency maintenance on facility equipment and building systemsMaintain daily logs for system checksCarry out repairs as directed and as necessary to all types of building equipment and systemsCare for and maintain hospital equipment and toolsAssist with the installation and removal of equipmentDeliver and pick up equipment and supplies as neededComplete minor building construction, carpentry, repairs and paint projects as neededMaintain and operate all equipment related to Grounds Keeping –experienced zero turn operator, chain saw/pole saw, tree pruning, gardening and flower beds. QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess and have proven skills and experience related to the care and repair of building systems which may include and is not limited to the following: preventive and general maintenance of equipment and buildings as well as facility properties, general plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting;Proven work history for operating zero turn, chainsaw/pole saw, and grounds keeping experience. Chainsaw license would be an asset;Must possess a current and valid G driver’s license;Be knowledgeable with WHMIS and the Occupational Health and Safety Act;Proven work history with regards to being punctual, dependable, and work with minimal supervision and a team player in an ever changing environment. WORKING CONDITIONS:Physical demands of the job require tasks that involve repeated lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, walking, periodic climbing which include ladders, operation of lawn machines and other equipment.
