Kasohkowew Child Wellness Society (2012) provides statutory Child Intervention services to the community of Samson Cree Nation located in Maskwacis, Alberta, 85 kilometers south of Edmonton.

The HR Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the routine functions of the HR department including hiring and interviewing staff, overseeing the administration of pay and benefits, administration of HR software and ensuring the adherence of all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. REPORTING ACCOUNTABILITIES The HR Coordinator will report to the Executive Director of KCWS. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To maintain the current KCWS Human Resource policies and procedures and make

recommendations for updates to the Executive Director and the KCWS Board of Directors as needed. Ensures that the current policies are in line with all applicable laws and regulations. To assist Director with presenting additional or revised Human Resource Policies to the KCWS Board for approval.

  • To oversee and supervise Human Resource staff. To oversee the administration of payroll and benefits.
  • To oversee the implementation and administration of HR software.
  • To oversee the administration of personnel records and employee provisions and

entitlements such as employee evaluations, absences, vacation leave and other leaves and benefits. Oversee the maintenance of records of staff training.

  • To oversee the administration of the Employee Benefits program. Develop and

implement employee wellness and workplace safety programs.

  • To provide advice and support to KCWS on problem and conflict resolution, HR Policy interpretation, code of conduct and ethics, employee or supervisory issues, Long Term Disability issues and discipline related issues.
  • To take lead role in attracting and retaining qualified and suitable KCWS staff (career fairs, service recognition, and recruitment process). To function as chairperson for KCWS interview panels for the purpose of recruitment and coordinates exit interviews as required. Draft/revise/update interview questions pertaining to specific job functions.
  • To maintain and update as needed, the organizational chart and classification levels, and newly developed job positions upon approval from the Executive Director and KCWS Board of Directors.
  • To develop and maintain up to date job descriptions of all KCWS positions through job analysis, feedback from staff and supervisors and comparison to other like organizations.
  • To complete related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Related Degree with (2) two related years experience OR a Related Diploma with four (4) years related experience. Experience: Must have diversified Human Resources experience in a variety of functions such as staffing, classification, compensation/pay and benefits, training, and development and/or employee relations. Must be familiar with issues and factors affecting the local community and have an awareness of local community resources and agencies. Other requirements: Class 5 Drivers License and Driver’s Abstract, have reliable transportation, willingness to travel, clear CYIM check, Clear Criminal Records Check, and sign and abide by an oath of confidentiality. Willingness to complete a staff training and employee wellness plan as required.
