Bow Island Health Centre is a busy rural hospital with an Emergency Department, a 10 bed acute care unit, a 19 bed long term care and also includes Alfred Egan Home that provides that is a 30 bed unit providing specialized care to individuals with development disabilities under Persons for Development Disabilities. Bow Island has a population of just over 2000 people and is located a short 40 minute drive from Medicine Hat. As the Site Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership to healthcare professionals dedicated to providing leading care to Albertans at the Bow Island Health Centre and Alfred Egan Home. Your leadership and direction will help to support the vision, mission and business plan of AHS. As the Site Manager, you will be making key decisions and establishing and contributing to the achievements and goals of the site. You will promote effective communication between staff, across programs and services, and within the South Zone. Using effective change management practices, the manager will manage initiatives to improve the overall clinical operations, and act as the primary point of management for issues that relate specifically to the site. The role requires the ability to maintain strong working relationships with key leaders and stakeholders to provide operational and interdepartmental leadership that integrates the site, as well as managing relationships with both internal and external operational partners (e.g., civic representatives, Emergency Services, post-secondary institutions/programs, Alberta Health). In conjunction with the Director, Rural East, the site manager responsible for leading the clinical operations of the Bow Island Health Centre and Alfred Egan Home, including overseeing the site operational plan and priorities. The Site Manager will ensure the effective deployment of human resources, and create a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace where staff can reach their full potential. The Site Manager also ensures the appropriate allocation of fiscal and capital resources and manages and reports on the operating budget. Completion of an accredited health professions education program. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, and resident-focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Effective leadership abilities including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Proven ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Bachelor’s level education in Nursing, Health Administration, Public Health, Leadership, and/or Business. Three (3) to Five (5) years of management experience. Understanding of Continuing Care Health Service Standards for Long Term Care.
