Our client is seeking a motivated, innovative General Manager for a full-time role in one of Ottawa’s most prominent shopping centres. This is an ideal role for a community-minded, ambitious candidate who enjoys involvement in all aspects of the commercial management process and is interested in exposure to property development. The successful candidate will possess a natural inclination to work independently while also helping to grow the business by adding value to every business transaction by infusing the best of an excellent corporate culture and thrive on the challenge of maximizing the value of a retail centre in today’s complex retail environment.

We are seeking either an established professional or a rising star ready to take the next step with strong communication and people skills to lead a well-established team in the management, operations, promotions and administration of this significant property.

Your New Role

This position is primarily responsible for providing leadership and oversight of all operations for a significant local retail asset (ie. including tenant relations, operations and maintenance, reporting, budgeting and forecasting, staffing and human resources, promotions, customer relations, project management, risk management etc.). This role will involve regularly liaising with various departments from leasing, accounting, development and senior management to ensure that short- and long-term corporate goals are being achieved. Keys to Success

To succeed in this role, you will have a minimum of 5 years of commercial property management experience. You will have a post-secondary degree in a business-related field and ideally further related education such as a property management license, RPA or other related real-estate designation. An active Ontario real estate license is an asset.

Our ideal candidate will be directly responsible for developing, monitoring and reviewing the key financial indicators in our business, so we are seeking an individual who loves numbers, analysis and planning.

You will have exceptional interpersonal skills as well as an interest in leadership and personal/professional development. You are ambitious, and very well-organized by nature.

Always acting in a highly professional and customer-oriented manner, you must have excellent written and oral English communication and a knack for building positive relationships. Fluency in French would be an asset. We are looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of commercial property management operations and processes and their legal implications.
