If you are passionate about photonics, simulation, and software development, if you thrive in a multifaceted, cross-disciplinary, and collaborative environment, and if you want to shape the future of photonics while delivering cutting-edge software and solutions to our global customers, please come join our team.Responsibilities: In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of defining and developing our photonic simulation solutions.Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and architect solutionsWrite clear specifications for new software features and enhancementsDesign and optimize algorithms and numerical methods in the simulatorDevelop production-quality code in several programming languagesPerform detailed testing of new and enhanced features, and create documentation contentDevelop photonic device models and circuit examples to demonstrate simulation capabilitiesIntegrate simulation with design environment and layout for a complete end-to-end solutionEngage with select customers and ecosystem partners to understand and address their needsQualifications:To be successful in this role, you must have hands-on experience in photonic IC design and simulation.Master’s or PhD degree in electrical engineering, physics, or similar fields3+ years of experience designing integrated photonic devices and/or circuits, through full design cycles, from simulation and layout to tape-out and to experimental characterizationExperience in photonic device modeling, using Verilog-A or other methods, to describe the behavior of waveguides, couplers, modulators, photodetectors, lasers, etc. for circuit simulationExperience in photonic circuit simulation, and ideally electronic-photonic co-simulation, using Cadence Spectre, Lumerical INTERCONNECT, or similar toolsExperience in photonic device simulation using physical solvers, including optical / EM (e.g., FDTD), electrical / semiconductor (TCAD), and thermalKnowledge of numerical simulation methods is strongly preferredFamiliarity with electronic/photonic design automation tools and workflows (familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso platform is a plus)Programming skills in C/C++, Python, and SKILLExperience working with multiple foundries and using or developing photonic PDKs is a plusGood communications skills and ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teamsWe’re doing work that matters.
