This position reports to the Production Manager and will work a rotating 12 hour continental shift schedule (Days: 8am - 8pm, Nights: 8pm - 8am). As this role serves as a training position for the Extrusion Operator Trainee, and Blender Trainee roles, all functions performed by these positions will become part of this job as the incumbent acquires the adequate knowledge and experience. On-the-job training is provided, so experience is not vital!Address: 2441 Royal Windsor Dr, Mississauga, ON L5J 4C7Salary: $ + night shift premium (where applicable)Principle Accountabilities: Operate mobile material handling equipment used for the packaging of finished product into crates or bundles Identify all processing problems on all equipment and report them to the Shift Supervisor responsible. Measure and record dimensional and physical properties of the product at predetermined periods of time Ensure all material storage areas, scrap storage areas and pipe storage areas are maintained in an orderly and clean manner. Assist in the movement and setting up of equipment into or out of the production areas. Assist in the Startup of a production line and manufacture product to the required external and internal specifications. Building and packing pipe crates. Perform a variety of other tasks as assigned Requirements Completion of high school diploma or practical equivalent. Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset Experience with plastic extrusion is a strong asset Knowledge of Health and Safety practices is necessary. Good communication skills both written and verbal. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, dust, noise levels and the use of equipment such as sharp blades. Moderate amount of sensory attention is required. Limited control of work pace and unexpected workflow brings considerable stresses to this position.
