The Manager, Systems Engineering is responsible for the successful design, development, and implementation of technical solutions. The role will require review of technical specifications, assigning tasks, and management of overall systems engineering requirements for various projects. The Manager, Systems Engineering, will join a delivery team that collaborates closely with the Director of Engineering, Director of Automation, PMO, and other key personnel. Your primary responsibilities will include leading multi-discipline engineering teams, defining, and managing engineering delivery strategy, and ensuring projects are executed effectively, meeting customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to define, modify, and implement internal engineering process across the organization as it applies to urban rail project assignments.
  • Work closely with the company’s PMO to monitor key project metrics, and resource requirements.
  • Lead high-performing engineering teams developing solutions aligned with client requirements.
  • Advise on planning, execution, and delivery of complex engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope and budget.
  • Strategize and outline engineering delivery plans, including resource allocation based on estimates.
  • Manage interfaces within overall delivery strategy to integrate with broader program goals.
  • Support definition of engineering work packages, including resources, budgets, timelines, and risk assessments.
  • Prioritize tasks to ensure project delivery aligns with contractual schedule, costs, & quality standards.
  • Oversee engineering team's day-to-day operations, managing issues, and identifying opportunities and risks.
  • Identify potential for reusing solutions across projects to optimize resources and innovation.
  • Ensure adherence to Quality Management Systems (QMS) throughout project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in systems engineering and project management within the transportation sector.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong communication skills and a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Desire to take initiative and anticipate project requirements on a pro-active basis.
  • Professional command of the English language in both spoken and written communications and presentation settings.
  • Working knowledge of CENELEC standards, RAMS analyses are assets.

Education

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Valid P. Eng designation in B.C. Other Provincial professional memberships considered an asset.
