Health And Safety Coordinator

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to join our team. As a Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, developing, and implementing safety policies and procedures, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Drive all aspects of Health and Safety with a hands-on approach within the field and office admin.
  • Coach and conduct site inspections, safety incidents, and infractions.
  • Hold and manage quarterly meetings with Management for Cor.
  • Proactively help identify/analyze, develop, and document hazard identification and practices.
  • Conduct and record regular and random site audits and ensure hazard assessments are done.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses. Document, provide recommendations, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Oversee and effectively manage all aspects of WSIB claims management and modified duty/RTW programs.
  • Work with managers and employees to implement and improve effective health and safety processes.
  • Actively promote a safety culture/mindset through continuous communications, process improvement, relationship building, and organizational leadership.
  • Lead the Joint Health and Safety committee.
  • Facilitate onboarding, annual, and as-required employee training programs.
  • Maintain, learn, and uphold Health and Safety regulations, policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Help continue the process to secure and maintain COR certification.
  • Liaise with external agencies such as MOL, WSIB, and safety organizations.

Qualifications

  • Formal education in Occupational Health and Safety and risk management
  • Formal safety designation such as NCSO is considered an asset.
  • 5-10 years experience in Health and Safety with 3-5 years experience in construction.
  • Posses’ strong knowledge of the Ontario Construction and Industrial Regulations.
  • Experienced in COR 2020
  • First Aid Certified
  • Flexible and willing to travel to sites and projects.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • A willingness to educate and communicate professionally.

Salary: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
