*Heavy Duty Equipment Technician**

‪Tyalta Industries Inc. - Crossfield, Alberta

Tyalta Industries Inc. is a leading supplier of equipment, service and technical solutions for the aggregate industry in Western Canada. This includes, rock crushing, screening and varrious types of material handling equipment.

‪This position will be required to carry out inspections, repairs, scheduled service and on going maintenance to keep our fleet in excellent working condition.

Key Performance Areas

• Follow the scope of work efficiently to meet time constraints and control costs.
• ‪Inspect for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions as well as perform various repairs to our fleet of aggregate equipment.
• Must be familiar with diagnosing/repairing engine, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• ‪Adjust or tear down equipment to repair/replace or rebuild defective parts components or systems as required.
• ‪Test and repair equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
• Identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and/or near misses

Educational Requirements

• Red Seal or Heavy Duty Journeyman Mechanic

Previous mechanical experience would be an asset with specific equipment in the aggregate industry.

• Knowledge of crushing and screening equipment.
• Knowledge of 12 and 24-volt electrical systems and controls.
• Knowledge of high voltage generator electrical systems and controls.
• Knowledge of diesel engines.
• Knowledge of hydraulics.
• Knowledge of braking systems.
• Knowledge of drivelines, include clutch, flywheel, transmissions, and differentials.

*Previous mechanical experience would be an asset with truck and trailer configurations.

• Knowledge of steering mechanisms and suspensions
• Perform general and preventative maintenance on, change oil, filters, check and change breaks, lights, batteries, trouble shooting electrical and air-lines.

Organizational Skills :*

• Record keeping and reporting of on-going scheduled maintenance and the tracking of equipment maintenance costs.
• Complete work orders, record keeping and reporting of on going scheduled maintenance and the tracking of equipment maintenance costs.
• Requisition parts and components.
• Make recommendations for equipment to be repaired by outside sources when not suitable for repair in house.
• Providing general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe facility.

Physical Requirements :

• • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Bending, Kneeling, stooping.
• Using hands to manipulate tools.
• Sitting, standing, climbing, walking for extended period of time.
• Crawling under equipment on back.
• Manipulating components in hard to reach places with hands or tools.
• Working in closed spaces and elevated heights.
• Tolerating noise and temperature variations
• Working outside.

Your Profile should also have a background with

• Excellent customer service.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• 3-5 years related experience
• Ability to comprehend related schematics
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
• Must have AB license with the ability to travel to and from remote sites
