QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience Bachelor of Social Work degree (B.S.W.) from an accredited school of Social Work, however a Master's degree (M.S.W.) is preferred. Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers. Related social work experience, preferably in a medical setting, and demonstrated clinical competence. Link to Full Job Description Additional information for applicants This temporary social work position is open to BSW and/or MSW social workers and each will be paid according to the Health Science Professionals Collective Agreement. This position is located at the Royal Jubilee Hospital on the Cardiology and Heart Health Units. Previous experience in critical care and specifically cardiac care will be an asset. The social worker works in team-based care. Advance practice skills in short-term counselling services specifically in adjustment to change of health status and grief , loss and end of life are part of the social work role. The social worker engages in complex discharge planning with the client and their family to return to the community or to an alternate level of care. Knowledge of community, government, financial, housing and equipment resources will be integral to supporting discharge planning. All social workers are Designated Responders under the Adult Guardianship Act and must investigate, assess and intervene in allegations of Adult Abuse, neglect and self-neglect. Social Workers collaborate with the Ministry of Children and Families on all matters related to child protection.
