The Manager of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-racism (EDI & AR) will be a key member of EDI & AR leadership team and will be responsible for planning, leading, managing and monitoring projects and initiatives aimed at advancing TRU’s commitment to EDI & AR.The Manager is a leader, subject matter expert and advocate for matters related to EDI & AR. The individual in this position reports to the Executive Director of EDI & AR and is responsible for advocating and promoting the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. The Manager provides advice, support, and capacity building for TRU, including strategic change initiatives. They address complex issues across the campus and develop and lead frameworks, EDI training and other initiatives to address EDI in the University setting. They participate in developing the EDI strategy and conduct policy audits for system changes and implementation. Additionally, the Manager connects with community organizations and leaders, develops outreach and partnership strategies, and works closely with key stakeholders internally and externally to support institutional goals related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESChampion and advance the principles and values of EDI & AR.Works collaboratively with the Executive Director, EDI & AR, to implement the EDI strategy and initiatives that align with the University’s mission, vision and values.Receive confidential disclosures about EDI-related problems or concerns from students, faculty and staff, and provide assistance and support.Develops and implements EDI-related projects and implement an evaluation framework to track the success of EDI-related initiatives.Leads the development of an EDI & AR communications strategy in collaboration with Marketing and Communication to enhance awareness and promote EDI.Collaborates with and provides advice to leaders on campus on how to integrate EDI goals into departmental and operational strategies.Collect data to develop strategies and initiatives that are specific to TRU.Creates plans and tools to identify and address bias and discrimination within the organization, raise awareness and facilitate conversations.Oversees program delivery in collaboration with the Executive Director, leaders, and others, using change management techniques to integrate training, talent management, development, and retention of students, faculty, and staff.Designs and delivers training programs to increase awareness and understanding of EDI issues among employees and the campus community.Enact community engagement strategies, including surveys, focus groups and town halls to advance EDI initiatives, share information and support the ongoing evolution of the EDI program.Participates as a key member of the EDI Advisory Committee.Establishes the employee and faculty EDI advisory committees and affinity groups.Engages campus and external communities to build relationships and partnership strategies, share resources and promote EDI initiatives to support the University’s goals.Collaborate with TRUFA and TRUSU on EDI-related projects, initiatives, and events.Conduct policy analysis and review utilizing an EDI lens and a GBA+ approach.Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in the field of EDI, and bring innovative ideas to the university. QUALIFICATIONSREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS A graduate degree in a relevant area of study, preferably with a focus on human rights, diversity, equity, and inclusion, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum five (5) years of professional experience advancing EDI & AR initiatives, developing actionable plans and strategies, consulting, implementing and maintaining EDI programs in a complex organization.Experience leading, inspiring and mobilizing others to achieve EDI & AR initiatives and goalsIn-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, frameworks and best practices related to EDI.Knowledge of strategic planning, cultural change and project management principles and best practices.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of respect, inclusivity, and social justice.Ability to design, develop and deliver effective training programs.Experience working within a post-secondary context is strongly preferred. Thompson Rivers University is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
