Job Purpose

  • Through reviewing the proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of the estimate, the Estimator is responsible for all aspects of estimating the sales jobs, and communicating the quotations to the Sales Persons within an effective time frame to secure the sale._

Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to the Following :

  • Receive training from various Pollard employees. Incumbent will become proficient with Q2 (quoting system), our policies and procedures, product knowledge and all sales function's duties and responsibilities.
  • Sales and service to assigned customers. This includes maintaining a regular call frequency at the customer's office as well as their job sites, in order to: Take off plans, make recommendations regarding product alternatives, sell upgrades and install labour (include foam etc.) when possible. I.e. attic hatches, decorative trims, upgraded hardware etc.
  • Assess potential volume and handling factors in order to make pricing recommendations.
  • Deliver and discuss quotations.
  • Acquire and/or clarify contracts.
  • Develop order and delivery schedules.
  • Communicate client requirements clearly with the Scheduler.
  • Place orders and coordinate them with the customers required productions schedules.
  • Present new products, product improvements and updated pricing when required.
  • Forecast customers' future product requirements. Collect market information as required.
  • Develop and maintain a partnership relationship with both the corporate decision makers as well as the key site personnel.
  • Effectively handle complaints and coordinate service requirements with the Service department in a timely manner.
  • Help with the collection of overdue accounts when requested. Provide requested information and perform other administrative functions as required.
  • Develop new customers by using a planned strategy consisting of prospecting, qualifying, developing customer needs analysis, and professional follow up. The names of prospective customers will be gained from existing customers, e-newspapers, market trend materials, visual checks on new surveys and development sites, information from municipal offices, building departments and all additional sources. Potential clients include builders, prefabricators, renovators, architects, general contractors, developers, property managers and government agencies.
  • Continue to call on and develop business relationships with Customers that have temporarily stopped buying (i.e. in between projects). The expectation is to remain in touch with all prospects on a continuous basis, and to build effective business relationships.
  • Perform promotional work as requested; Participate in home builder association meetings and events if required.
  • Participate in sales meetings. Assist with sales forecasting and budgeting as requested.

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate with College degree in architecture, engineering or construction management preferred;
  • Proficient at understanding and translating construction plans, drawings and specifications and generating accurate take-offs and estimates;
  • Excellent math, formulation and configuration skills;
  • Keen attention to detail, organization and mechanical aptitude;
  • Proficient use of estimating, scheduling and project management software and AutoCAD;
  • Team Player with Excellent Communication Skills
  • Must Have Above Average Computer Skills, and Willing to Learn In-House Software Program
  • Valid Driver’s license; must provide clean driver’s abstract
  • Minimum of 1 year of industry experience preferred
  • Skilled at reading, understanding, and interpreting drawings and specifications
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook and other computer software packages required
  • Displays excellent organizational skills and is able to effectively prioritize estimating tasks

Skills Required :

  • A high level of organizational skills is required. Maintain all files in an organized fashion. Keep Master quotes if required and work with Customer Service Manager to update pricing when required. Maintain complete files of existing customers and prospects while ensuring that all contact information is up to date at all times.
  • Responsible for producing a monthly sales coverage plan. This includes call reports and mileage reports as requested on a monthly basis. Submit monthly expense reports as per company guidelines. Control expenditures within provided guidelines.
