Reports To: Director of Data Engineering

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Lead Engineer in Data Operation. As a Lead Engineer in Data Operations, you will be responsible for driving the development of modern data pipelines and solutions that empower our products. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional technical expertise, and a passion for leveraging data to solve complex challenges. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineering, data science, and business intelligence, to ensure data quality, availability, and integrity. You will have the opportunity to help drive the next iteration of the data tech stack at Zonda.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of developers, providing guidance and support to ensure project success and professional growth
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and performant modern data pipelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Collaboratively Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the data team, staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices
  • Rapidly learn the business space in order to serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and expertise on data architecture, design patterns, and best practices
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure the availability of high-quality data for analysis and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to data operations processes, workflows, and system configurations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in software development with a focus on building data pipelines in the cloud, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role
  • Strong knowledge of data management concepts, data quality principles, data modeling, and data governance frameworks.
  • Strong experience in SQL Server or PostgreSQL
  • Experience in cloud technologies (or equivalent) such as AWS RDS, AWS EC2, AWS S3, AWS Lambda, AWS AppFlow, and AWS Glue (or Apache Spark)
  • Data Pipeline and Data Warehouse/Lake experience using Snowflake/DataBricks, and Apache Airflow
  • Experienced in programming languages and frameworks such as Python and NodeJs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify patterns and trends in data
  • Demonstrated history of being a subject matter expert, with a track record of delivering high-quality solutions on time and within budget
  • Experience with CICD systems, GitHub, Agile methodologies, and performance optimization
