Based in Thunder Bay, the Survey Crew Chief will report to the Geomatics Project Manager and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on supporting community development, construction, and infrastructure development in Northern Ontario. You will be part of a team that provides a full range of traditional surveying services as well as construction monitoring, precision layout, and high-definition 3D laser scanning.What You’ll Do:The Survey Crew Chief will be part of the TULLOCH Geomatics team. You will: Complete boundary surveys in residential, industrial, commercial, and remote retracement settingsRead and decipher design documents and complete basic layout calculationsPerform high-precision surveys such as: industrial layout, deformation monitoring, levelling, and GNSS static control surveysCollect field data using traditional survey instruments such as total station and high precision levels as well as GPS field equipmentOversee QC of data collection ensuring that field notes and daily downloads are completeCollect terrestrial scanning dataInteract with clients while on-siteMentor and train new field staffHave opportunities to work on proposals, reports, and production of deliverablesWho You Are: You have at least five (5) years of practical related work experienceYou are proficient in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting Trimble survey equipment or similarYou are comfortable with static control surveys, high-precision layout work, and 1st order levelling techniques (or are willing and able to learn)You are willing to travel frequently for site inspections and fieldworkYou work hard, have an innovative attitude, and are adamant about honing your technical skillsYou exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectivesYou can pivot and alter approach or recommendations to accomplish desired results What You Should Bring:The ideal candidate will have completed a two (2) year college program in Geomatics Technology or a related program.
