Operate rail car mover (Rail King) – This includes coupling and decoupling cars (Switchman) and Rail crossing guard. Check rail lines, crossings, switches, and associated equipment to ensure safe and proper operation. Keep track of all Rail Yard Inventory. Perform minor track repairs such as tightening loose joint bolts, tightening loose spikes. Perform minor maintenance on equipment as assigned. Complete monthly inspection reports (for rail, crossings and switches). Operate equipment required for cleaning switches and crossings (shovel, pick, bars(s), blower and broom). Inspect, load, weigh, sample, seal, bill oil, meal and distillate cars as assigned. Help unload chemical trucks as assigned. Unload and transfer clay, filter aid, and silica into storage. Moving and sorting cars by means of rail moving equipment. Ensure that car moving equipment is inspected, kept clean and in good working order Operate truck scales as assigned. Clean up according to assigned clean up duties. Perform any other related duties as required. Report any non-compliance to supervision immediately. Team Responsibilities: Communicate with operations supervisors, both meal and EOF loaders, and logistics. Display positive image and maintain customer focus when dealing with outside groups such as CP and track maintenance crews. Qualifications: Grade 12 education or equivalent. Rail experience preferred Good mechanical aptitude Good computer / keyboard skills. A valid class 5 Manitoba driver’s license. Must be able to work from heights and in confined spaces.
