Location:   Various locations across  British Columbia As a Plans Examiner/Plan Reviewer, you will be responsible for reviewing and approving building plans and construction documents to ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and standards. Your role will be essential in facilitating the permit process and ensuring that construction projects meet all required safety and design criteria. Key Responsibilities: Review and analyze building plans, blueprints, and construction documents for compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards. Assess the technical aspects of plans, including structural integrity, fire safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency. Provide feedback and recommendations for plan modifications to ensure compliance and resolve issues. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to address technical concerns and clarify code requirements. Issue permits and approvals for construction projects based on plan reviews and compliance assessments. Prepare detailed reports on plan reviews, approvals, and code compliance for documentation and record-keeping. Stay updated on changes to building codes, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure accurate and current assessments. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including property owners, builders, and municipal officials, to facilitate the permit and approval process. Requirements Relevant certification or diploma in Building Inspection, Architectural Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience as a plans examiner, plan reviewer, or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of building codes and regulations. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex plans and technical documents. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing plan reviews and documentation. Effective communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders and providing clear guidance. Ability to stay current with evolving building codes, regulations, and industry practices.
