Reporting to the Supervisor Labs HHS, the Lab Assistant maintains the program lab inventory and storeroom with limited day to day supervision. The Lab Assistant is a part of a collaborative team who foster the learning of nursing skills in a simulated hospital environment.TYPICAL DUTIES• Prepares and sets up equipment for labs and maintains an ongoing inventory record;• Sets up the simulators and mannequins with the required equipment, etc. for classes;• Responds to basic student questions on the use of simulators and mannequins and requests for additional supplies;• Conducts regular cleaning of lab equipment to maintain an orderly and secure physical environment;• Assists with the maintenance of teaching aids and resource material under the guidance of the Supervisor – Labs, HHS;• Participates in the set up of and presentation of lab orientations in consultation with the Supervisor – Labs, HHS;• Represents the department with external suppliers as required;• Participates in department meetings and projects in consultation with the Supervisor – Labs, HHS;• Responds to lab space/allocation requests as directed by the Supervisor – Labs, HHS;• Performs other related duties similar in scope and complexity. Qualifications Licensed Practical Nurse or Health Care related diploma and six months experience with health care or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Understanding of changing environment of medical technology. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of students, staff and faculty. Ability to work effectively, efficiently and economically. Good inventory management skills. Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize a multitude of tasks and duties and respond to unforeseen circumstances.
