Introduction The Department of Housing, Addictions and Homelessness is organized into several divisions that are responsible for a wide range of programs and services that are delivered by the department, or by community-based partner organizations. Manitoba Housing provides a wide range of subsidized housing throughout the province of Manitoba. We partner with other governments, community organizations and private groups to create safe and affordable housing. Conditions of Employment: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Must provide a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check. Must Provide a satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check. Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence. Must be physically capable to travel (on gravel and winter ice roads, by small aircraft/float planes, and boat) within the designated area. Qualifications: Essential: Experience performing minor or major renovations and maintenance repairs including: carpentry (installation, removal and repairs), plumbing related to faucets, toilets, water, sewers; painting; mechanical equipment and appliance repair; and heating system repair. Experience working within safety policies and procedures. Ability to complete inspection reports and document follow up information on work orders. Ability to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize critical issues and operate effectively within limited timeframes. Superior interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to deal effectively with tenants and the public. Strong problem solving skills. Effective verbal communication skills. Desired: Proficiency with using Microsoft Outlook. Duties: The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the completion of maintenance tasks within an assigned portfolio while ensuring Manitoba Housing's policies, procedures, and guidelines are being followed. The incumbent will perform duties such as inspections, prepares scope of work for maintenance repairs and maintains inventories of materials, supplies and equipment. Prepares and submits required documentation connected to the performance of duties including any maintenance and tenant concerns to the Supervisor. The incumbent is responsible to act as Operations Manager where required.
