Work Arrangements The Early Childhood Education Department in the Faculty of Applied Community Studies is hiring two regular probationary faculty members to begin August 19, 2024. The Department offers a two-year in-person/online/hybrid diploma program that prepares students for basic ECE certification as well as certification as a Special Needs Educator. Students may also complete a post-diploma citation in Infant-Toddler Care. Instructors in the department typically teach a range of academic and practicum courses. Responsibilities You will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in the Early Childhood Education Diploma program. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain high quality learner-centred instruction.Additional duties include building and taking part in community committees and initiatives, as well as active participation in department, faculty, and college-wide committees. To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need The successful candidate will have a Masters degree (Doctorate preferred) in Early Childhood Education or in a closely related field (e.g Education, Psychology, Child & Youth Care).Experience or strong interest in teaching applied knowledge and skills to post-secondary students.Preferred candidate will have experience caring for and/or working with young children in a childcare, preschool or kindergarten setting.Interest and/or proficiency in technology using an online-based teaching & learning platform.Excellent communication & time management skills.Willingness to work collaboratively in a team setting.Interest in applied research & publishing an asset.Preferred candidate will have the flexibility to teach across program areas including one or more of these specialist areas: Special Needs Education, International Education, Practicum Supervision, Community Relationship Building, and Online Course Delivery.
