The RN performs duties and monitors departmentalactivities in accordance with established standards, regulations, policies andprocedures to maximize person served holistic quality care while maintainingresident respect and dignity.Responsibilities Include but not limited to:Be an engaged collaborative team player, developing andmaintaining professional relationships that support and strengthen theorganizational culture and purpose.Assesses residents’ needs; implements and evaluates individualized resident-centered care plans.SupportsLPN’s to review and update care plans as required, offers clinical decisionmaking support including clinical assessments to support the care team on adaily basis as needed.Administersmedications and treatments as per established standards, regulations, policiesand procedures.Responsiblefor community wound management, assisting LPNs with assessment, treatment anddocumentation as needed, facilitating referral to Wound Care Specialist whennecessary. Submits wound report to Director of Care (DOC) ordesignate weekly.Providesdirect care to residents as necessary and liaises with other disciplines anddepartments to ensure quality focused resident care.Liaiseswith physicians, community agency representatives, families, visitors andvolunteers.Supportsthe move in process, works collaboratively with other team members and follows communitypolicies and protocolsAttendsCare Conferences in the absence of the DOC or designate.Ensuresresidents rights are observed and adheres to a holistic philosophy of wellness.Acts asFirst Aid attendant when on duty and that all injured staff completes therequired documentation.Maintains a safe environment for residents, family and staff, through:accident prevention,knowledge of emergency procedures and regulations,the safe use of supplies and equipment andreporting when repairs are necessary, andUtilizing infection control proceduresCoordinatesand supervises care staff; directs their work and assigns duties as necessaryto ensure resident focused care is provided and resident rights are observed.Providesclinical direction to community care staff in the absence of the DOC ordesignate.Fulfillsclinical on call duties as requiredPerforms communityaudits and correlates data to submit to DOC or designate.Participatesin orientation of new employees.Provideseducational material and direction on procedures to clinical staff anddemonstrates techniques.Providesinformed input into staff evaluations while supporting LPN’s in thecoach/mentor for the HCA staff.Activelyparticipates in orientation of new staff, community programs, meetings,committees and educational in-servicesMaintainspaper and electronic documents as per established standards, regulations,policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality is maintained as perpolicies.Performsother related duties as required.Qualificationsand Skills:Graduate of an approved program for Nursing and holds acurrent license with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives(BCCNM) as an RN.Bachelorof Science in Nursing an asset.ValidOccupational First Aid Level 1 certification and CPR.Successfulannual Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) competency testing.Previousexperience in a long term care facility an asset.Allsuccessful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Checkapplicable to Provincial guidelines.Abilityto read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal andwritten instructions.Computer skills including the ability to navigate basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook.Abilityto push, pull, stoop, crouch, lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
