ClearBakk is a mid-sized Engineering, Procurement, and Project Management (EPCM/EPF) firm providing services to the industrial sector with a focus on water and treatment technologies. We specialize in facility design from concept to construction, implementation, and commissioning as well as after delivery support. Our clients include several of the largest O&G producers in Canada to small Development Corporations for off grid infrastructure.

We are currently looking to add and experienced Mechanical Package Engineer to our growing team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and delivering projects for our clients, working closely with our design and engineering teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Position Summary:

The incumbent, reporting to the Engineering Manager, will be responsible for preparing and coordinating Purchased Equipment or Materials/Vendor Packages to meet client needs, project specifications, budgetary constraints, and project schedules.

Duties & Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage vendor packages from the bid stage through design engineering, including developing RFQ/TBE/RFP to PRF, and oversee vendor initial pricing to the receipt of vendor documents, coding, and inter-discipline squad check process.
  • Prepare package documents for review by the Project Engineer (PE), Project Manager, and Engineering Manager before submission to Procurement.
  • Compare project piping and equipment specifications with ClearBakk’s Std Vendor package requirements.
  • Prioritize workload of multiple packages based on project schedules.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface with suppliers/vendors to ensure equipment compliance with project-approved specifications, regulatory requirements, and codes.
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Engineer on package status/issues and adherence to schedule.
  • Perform engineering tasks, including preparation and review of mechanical package deliverables such as datasheets, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Manage vendor data, coordinate interdisciplinary reviews, and ensure adherence to project schedules.
  • Facilitate communication with vendors, oversee technical bid evaluations, and clarify during package execution.
  • Prepare equipment purchase packages and piping/valve material take-offs.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of vendor equipment supply proposals and resolve discrepancies between client and customer requirements.
  • Compile vendor documentation into manuals and validate vendor deliverables matching ClearBakk’s required VDRL coding.
  • Log transmittals for submitted documentation.

Key Experience:

  • Demonstrated success in delivering multiple mechanical packages across all project phases.
  • Proficiency in package management, particularly in overseeing rotating equipment packages, document review, and consolidation.
  • Expertise in various types of relevant equipment such as centrifugal pumps, compressors, with familiarity with API standards.
  • Comprehensive understanding and application of mechanical fundamentals, including Brownfields and Greenfields Engineering, equipment layout, and interpretation of mechanical, piping, and P&ID drawings.
  • Familiarity with piping and equipment Codes and Standards (ASME, API, CSA).
  • Proficient in various mechanical tasks (Equipment Lists, Line Lists, SP items, ABSA registration packages, etc.).
  • Ability to understand and contribute to the development of P&IDs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for dealings with Vendors and clients, including presentations.
  • Responsibility for timely project completion and utilizing engineering knowledge in planning and executing assignments.
  • Follow-up on packages throughout fabrication, inspection, and shipping stages to ensure compliance with specifications and schedule.
  • Communication with relevant parties (Project Manager, Project Engineer, Supplier) on all technical package issues.
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office Suite and discipline-specific software like Navisworks, Bluebeam, and the Adobe Suite.
  • Experience in compiling turnover packages, writing Engineering and Constructions work packages
  • Experience in project delivery for process modules, treatment skids for oil and gas or water treatment (Packaged Equipment, Pre-engineered Package, Process Package)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering with PEng status required;
  • Over 10 years of progressive experience in Mechanical Engineering and minimum of 5 years experience with an EPCM company in a Project Engineer or Package role;
  • Strong interpersonal skills exuding a positive and professional manner at all times;
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word as well as TEAMS and Sharepoint skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in team environments as required;
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Planning, prioritizing, and working under pressure to meet set deadlines;
  • Familiarity reading and designing project P&IDs and vendor package documentation;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • To travel to client sites as needed.
