Apply now to embark on a rewarding career with Lafarge Construction The Role: We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic with Journeyperson or Red Seal status to join our team. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of our heavy equipment and machinery. Your expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our equipment fleet. Responsibilities: The capacity to work as part of a team The capacity to work independently Reliability and dependability Ability to perform under pressure and react to emergency situations in a calm and collected manner. Good interpersonal skills Follow direction and instructions. Inspecting and repairing pavers, milling machines, rollers, loaders and other heavy construction equipment. Diagnosing faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools. Communicate on a constant basis with the Mobile Supervisor. Testing repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications. Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment. Service attachments and working tools such as blades, plows and other attachments Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using cranes and hand tools. Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings. Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment. Weld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools. Clean parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solvent. Maintains knowledge of ET and SIS. Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies. Qualifications: Registered 3rd-year - Journeyperson Heavy-Duty off Road Diesel experience Solid knowledge of Caterpillar, Hamm, Wirtgen other mobile Equipment Must have: Good decision making ability Strong numeracy skills Good oral communication skills Good document comprehension skills Have a good understanding of Heavy Road Building Equipment Be competent operating a Laptop computer Compensation: $33 to $47 per hour.
