FT Fitness Programmer

The City of Abbotsford is offering an exciting opportunity in our Parks, Recreation & Culture Department for a dynamic, selfmotivated professional with the proven skills, energy and leadership of a Fitness Programmer. In this challenging role you are responsible for developing, promoting, leading, supervising and evaluating a wide variety of fitness instruction and wellness programs and events. Your experience in recreation recruitment and onboarding will assist you in selecting, leading, training, mentoring and evaluating a large team of fitness and wellness staff. You will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers while you promote public interest and participation in our fitness programs. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem solving skills, combined with a strong commitment to customer service excellence are essential to this role. Considerable knowledge of principles, practices and objectives of organized community recreation along with knowledge of the health and wellness interests, needs and resources of the community serviced will guide your success in this position. To be considered for this opportunity you must have: A Diploma in a related discipline; Two years related experience in a fitness environment including one year of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; BCRPA or equivalent Certified Personal Trainer or Certified Weight Trainer; BCRPA or equivalent Certified Fitness Leader in a minimum of two areas (Aquatics, Group Fitness, etc.); Current Standard First Aid Certification; and Current CPR Level C Certification. Please note, the schedule for this position includes evening and weekend shifts. This position is unionized, CUPE Local , and the hourly rate of pay is from $32.09 to $37.73.
